We’re currently in the midst of another season of show choir. As your program is practicing, traveling, and competing, you obviously want your students to learn, grow, and be successful. Success may look different to everyone, but if your students are getting better, success at competitions will ultimately come.

Here are three tips for show choir success.

Plan for Uncertainty

Your show choir probably performs at unfamiliar venues often and that’s something you can prepare for. After all, competitions is where all your hard work is put on display so you want to be your best.

Take inventory of the space beforehand so you can know what you’re working with. Look at everything from the actual stage to things like props and wiring. For more specifics on what to look for, check out this article on show choir safety.

On top of looking at the space ahead of time, it may be a good idea to talk to a friend or colleague who’s been at that location previously. They can give you information and insight that you hadn’t considered.

Be Fast

Speed is important when it comes to competition. You need to get in and out quickly on top of nailing your performance. For this to be possible you need to do two things; be ready and have the right equipment. At some events, each group uses their own risers. When this is the case, you need to be able to get on and off the stage fast and efficiently. Having the right risers will make this possible for you. The ideal system should be able to be carried in and out fully assembly without having to remove decks from the support units. Making this process as seamless as possible gives you more time to focus on what’s really important – your performance.

Future Proof Your Program

In the coming years, you’re probably hoping and planning for your program to grow in the number of students involved. As show choir continues gaining more popularity throughout the country, this growth should be expected.

To plan for this future, you need equipment that can grow with you. When it comes to school budgets, there’s a limited amount of funds that need to be distributed throughout the district. Relating to risers, you need the ability to add on as you go rather than having to buy an entirely new system once you’ve outgrown your current one. Not every system offers that so it’s vital you have one that does.

Conclusion

There’s a lot that goes into a successful show choir program and season and there are also multiple ways to measure success from seeing your students grow and learn to winning competitions. All of it is important. As you’re planning and building your program, contact our experts and we can help you find the tools you need to win.
