A Deep Dive on Safety for Music Educators
A Deep Dive on Safety for Music Educators
March 25, 2020
As you’re well aware, safety is of the utmost importance right now for most of the world. In looking at just the United States, schools in many different states have begun closing down for the foreseeable future. As a music educator, this means that you’re probably at home. You may be continuing to share educational content with your students or maybe you’re trying to plan your lessons for when school does resume, but there’s only so much that you can do. For the most part, you probably feel like you’re at a standstill.
Even with this challenge, you know that all of this is being done in the name of safety. We’re not going to share any graphs or charts about the coronavirus in this post; we’ll let the experts do that. As a company, please know that we are taking the health and safety of our employees, customers, and partners very seriously and are implementing steps to protect everyone that we work with. What we want to do in this post is talk about our commitment to safety in addition to what we’re doing in response to the coronavirus.
Sturdy Steel Supports
To start, our staging and risers all use steel support units. This tubular steel makes the platforms incredibly stable while allowing them to be light enough so that they’re easy to set-up.
Versatile Guardrails & Chair Stops
Guardrails and chair stops are important for seated risers. On all of our seated riser and portable stage options, we offer both chair stops and guardrails to optimize safety. We also offer side and back rails for our standing choral riser options.
Dual-Sided Honeycomb Core Decks
Our staging decks feature a honeycomb core which allows for an incredibly solid platform that feels like you’re on a permanent floor. Drum head noise is also eliminated providing remarkably quiet use. Here’s an image that shows how it works.
Locking Casters
Our staging and riser options, like the rolling drum riser, that sit on casters when set up feature locking casters to keep the unit in place. When setting up or putting it away, they can be unlocked which allows the unit to roll away to storage. Our fold and roll risers that only sit on the casters when they are in the transport configuration, do not need locking casters because they aren’t sitting on them when in the set-up position as shown in the image below.
Cantilever Folding Mechanism
The cantilever folding mechanism in all of our foldable stages or risers assists in setting up or taking the unit down. This helps to eliminate unnecessary back strain when lifting the unit. Check out this video to learn more about how the FR-36 Fold & Roll Choral Riser folds.
It’s always important to make sure we’re focusing on being safe and that expands beyond the music room or performance hall. In the midst of what’s currently happening around the world, that message is prevalent now more than ever. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by the coronavirus. Please make sure you’re doing everything you can to stay safe and healthy.
