3 Characteristics of Good Show Choir Risers
3 Characteristics of Good Show Choir Risers
January 7, 2021
As the new year begins, so does an exciting new show choir season! Whether you’re polishing choreography or planning your big debut, now is the perfect time to lock in the tools and equipment your program needs to shine. In this post, we’ll explore key considerations to help your season start strong and stay on track in 2026.
Versatility
Show choirs often use either a 3X3 or 4X4 grid for their performances. Something that usually isn’t thought about is having risers that can be converted from a 3X3 to a 4X4 and vice-versa rather than needing two different sets. This allows you to adjust to your group size and also performance spaces as you travel to different locations.
Ease of Use
Since show choir competitions are timed, setting up and taking down the risers is incredibly important. Having a system that allows you to carry the deck and supports together will make this transition from waiting to performance to strike happen with ease.
Stub leg systems aren’t the best option for this because the leg will sometimes fall out which wastes valuable time when entering or leaving the stage.
Durability
Durability should be a major factor in any important purchasing decision. When it comes to your show choir risers, you need them to last for a long time. More than likely, this is a purchase you will only have the opportunity to make once it your career so you need to make it count.
Durable risers will improve every part of your program from practice to the performance for many years. This feature will also ensure the risers are safe to use and allow you to focus on the event and not worry about if the risers will hold the performers.
Conclusion
At the heart of every great performance is reliable equipment, and when it comes to show choir risers, quality matters. The best risers are durable, easy to use, and versatile enough to adapt to your staging needs. Investing in the right equipment gives your program a solid foundation to build confidence, creativity, and success on stage.
