How StageRight Helped Update Seoul National University of Education’s Performing Arts Center

In the capital of South Korea at the Seoul National University of Education, we provided the movable side towers and flown ceilings for the acoustic shell in their performing arts area. The back wall is built-in as seen in the image above.
The Seoul National University of Education is a school that prepares its students to become elementary school teachers. Founded in 1946, it’s one of the most prestigious higher education institutions in South Korea.
In their performing arts area, they made the initial decision to replace their existing reflectors because they needed better sound performance than they were currently getting.
When starting this process, the most important factor to them was to have a high-quality product. The facility wanted to enhance their space and improve the sound projection for their patrons. They also wanted the best value for their long term operational goals and needed a system that would give them many years of reliable service. They sought out a manufacturer with a good reputation and a proven orchestra enclosure.
The specific product that they selected for their performing arts center was our Opus II Concert Acoustic Shell. This product maximizes sound reflection by combining a bowed, structurally laminated stress-skin sandwich panels, and solid frame structure. The facility also included lighting that was integrated into the flown panels as shown in the image below.
There was only one challenge that arose during this project. When deciding on the color of their panels, it was difficult to match the exact color of the built-in back wall, even with the 200+ options available with the Opus II Concert Acoustic Shell. Fortunately, we were able to provide something that was incredibly close.
In the image below, you can see the team finalizing the installation of the final ceiling row. StageRight works closely with the facility and onsite installation crew to ensure everything is completed safely and correctly.
Now that the installation is completed and the shell is in use, the facility is very happy with the results. As a prestigious higher education institution, they needed a premium acoustic sound shell for their events.
